Reads on the Road: Our Travelling Street Library

There’s something truly magical about a good book and a campfire. That’s the heart behind Reads on the Road—a travelling Street Library that shares the love of reading wherever our caravan takes us.
Instead of a wooden bookcase out the front of a house, our library lives in a picnic basket. It’s filled with books for all ages and interests and travels with us as we explore Australia in our caravan. Whether we’re parked by a river, set up by the beach, or enjoying the peace of a bush retreat, our basket of books is always open. The idea is simple: take a book, leave a book, and let the stories continue their journey.
I’ve always been a passionate reader and love nothing more than sharing that joy with others. Whether it’s a rural romance, a heartwarming family saga, or a cosy mystery, there’s something special about putting the right book in someone’s hands.
That’s why I registered Reads on the Road with Street Library Australia—because books build community, spark conversation, and make any destination feel a little more like home.
You can follow our journey on Instagram @reads_on_the_road, where we post updates on where we’re travelling to next. If we’re heading to a spot near you, keep an eye out—you’re more than welcome to pop over, swap a book, and say hello.
Alongside our little roaming library, I also run a business while we travel—proofreading, ARC reading, and editing for Australian authors. It’s a joy to combine my love of books with the flexibility of van life, and I feel lucky every day that I get to do what I love from anywhere on the map.
So if you see us on the road, come visit the basket. Swap a story. Share a read. Because books, like adventures, are made to be shared.
