Letters in Blue is a heartwarming comfort read. This was my first time reading Heather Reyburn, and I can confidently say it won’t be the last—I’ve already ordered thirteen more of her books directly from the author!

From the sunburnt plains of Outback Australia to the windswept beauty of the Isle of Skye, this book weaves a beautiful dual-timeline narrative that’s both heartfelt and immersive. We follow Ingrid in 2024 as she escapes burnout and reconnects with her roots on Skye, where she stumbles across a bundle of pale blue aerogrammes—heartbreaking letters that open a window to a love story from decades earlier. Alongside Callum, a warm and kind local, Ingrid dives into the past in hopes of bringing closure—and maybe even love—back into the lives of those involved.

The 1990 timeline, featuring Lucy and her once-in-a-lifetime romance, had me completely absorbed. Her journey—from falling in love on Skye to being pulled back to Australia by a family emergency—was as tender as it was tragic, and the emotional weight of those blue letters lingered long after I turned the final page.

I don’t always enjoy dual timeline novels, as they can sometimes feel disjointed or confusing, but Heather Reyburn handles it seamlessly. The transitions were smooth, the pacing just right, and at no point did I feel lost or disconnected. In fact, I often found myself completely swept away by both narratives.

The characters felt so real—flawed, hopeful, and beautifully human—and the settings were richly drawn, adding texture and depth to every page. This is a story about love, loss, and the echoes of the past—and how sometimes, by seeking answers for others, we find them for ourselves.

An absolutely gorgeous read. I thoroughly enjoyed every word and I can’t wait for the next instalment in the Isle of Skye series. A full 5 stars from me.
