I really enjoyed this story—it had everything I love in a rural romance. There’s a depth to the characters that makes you feel for them right from the start. Ross is the kind of quietly tortured hero you want to wrap in a blanket and reassure that he’s worthy of love, even if he doesn’t believe it himself. His work as a country vet gives him purpose, but the weight of a childhood tragedy holds him back from truly living.
Then Flick arrives—full of warmth, energy, and a determination to care for others, even when it hurts. Her spark lights up Ross’s world, but both of them carry wounds that make love feel like both a gift and a risk.
This is a compelling romance about loss, healing, and ultimately trusting your heart. It explores the idea that forgiveness is possible and that taking a risk on love—even when it’s terrifying—is what makes life worth living. I was cheering for Ross and Flick the whole way.
