This book is a short and light introduction to the Barrington series, and it does exactly what a first book should—it leaves me excited to read the rest. Susan Mackie has a writing style that is both effortless and engaging, making it easy to get lost in the story. I found myself smiling as I read, drawn in by the warmth of the characters and the charming setting.

The author does a wonderful job of introducing the characters in a way that makes them feel real and inviting. While we’re only just meeting them, there’s a sense that they’ll play important roles as the series unfolds. There are also subtle hints at deeper, more complex situations to come, which adds intrigue and makes me eager to keep reading.

Another aspect I really loved is the setting. It feels familiar, and it happens to be in the very area I hope to move to soon, which made the story feel even more personal and immersive.

Overall, Coffee is My Calling is a delightful start to the series, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next!
